Job Summary
The role will be responsible for identifying and understanding all components of animal, crop and dairy production. Crops will not be limited to cereals, legumes, vegetables and tree crops, while livestock on farms will tend to be pigs, cows, goats and horses. You will be required to create and implement strategies for maximum yield, organize farm administration, farm machinery and coordinate associated businesses and staff.

Job Description/Requirements
Principal Responsibilities
Plans finances and production to maintain production activities against budget parameters
Directs and coordinates worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and recordkeeping.
Aligns farm activities with available modules on the ADAP platform for digital and data driven project tracking and reporting.
Coordinates growing activities with those of engineering, equipment maintenance, packing houses, and other related departments.
Analyses market conditions to determine acreage allocations.
Confers with necessary aggregation procedures and arranges for sale of crops.
Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares financial and operational reports.
Determines procedural changes in drying, grading, storage, and shipment for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Analyses soil to determine type and quantity of fertilizer required for maximum production.
Inspects equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Inspects the farms and orchards to determine maturity dates of crops or to estimate potential crop damage from weather.
Plans and directs development and production of hybrid plant varieties with high yield or disease and insect resistant characteristics.
Initiate request for required machinery, equipment, and supplies, such as tractors, seed, fertilizer, and chemicals.
Ensures production targets are met.

Education, Skills and Competences
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or related field
A minimum of five years practical experience in farm management and technical knowledge of agronomic, crop, soil and engineering sciences.
Strong Agricultural production track record with excellent results in large crop production
Project Management Certification is an advantage
