Job Description
Specific responsibilities for structural engineers depend largely upon the discipline or infrastructures that they choose to work on. The
following are some examples of the types of infrastructures, along with their
respective responsibilities:
Ensure that all materials used, and work performed are as per specifications.
Ensure that all HSE issues have been addressed and systems are in place to manage the same
Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site
labour force and the work of any subcontractors
Prepare bill of quantities and quotations in line with project goal and requirements
Maintain involvement in key technical decisions which are critical to project
success
Prepare site the report, daily and weekly progress reports for on-going projects as
required
Responsible for producing a project work plan and execution of the complete project with overall
responsibilities of co-ordination with client representatives,
administrative offices, government agencies, non-government agencies,
subcontractors’ supplier’s etc./Manage, monitor and interpret the contract
design documents supplied by the client or architect
Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk and opportunity register
Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by management.
Check and confirm access for heavy loads and equipment to Project Site
Liaise with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance
with local construction regulations and by-laws
Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors) on
the progress report of their projects
Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise on
site
Job Requirement(s):
Management skills with knowledge of the construction process, drawings, materials and legal regulations.
Good communication and personnel management skills.
Work Experience and Educational Qualification
Minimum of 2 years of work experience in Civil Engineering
Bachelor's Degree or HND in Civil Engineering
