Kitchen Assistant/Cook

Requirements:1. High School Diploma 2. Associate Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, or similar preferred.
3. Post-secondary vocational training at a culinary institution would be advantageous.
4. 2 or more years of experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, or similar.
5. Advanced knowledge of traditional pastry baking techniques.
6. In-depth knowledge of food industry regulations.
7. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
Responsibilities:1. Consulting with the Executive Chef and other Chefs to plan menus.
2. Executing pastry orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
3. Demonstrating skill in baking pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, sweets, and pies.
4. Creating enticing confectionery decorations and delicious pastry fillings, as well as keeping abreast of new pastry baking techniques.
5. Applying classic pastry baking techniques when preparing traditional pastries.
6. Adding novel, creative, and delicious pastry items to the existing selection.
7. Maintaining the good running order of specialized pastry baking equipment.
8. Preparing work schedules and keeping pastry section records.
9. Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
10. Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients.
