Architect

requirements:Proven working experience as an architect (minimum of 5 years post nysc)
strong portfolio to prove artistic skills
expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
excellent drawing skills and familiarity with design software (adobe photoshop, sketchup, 3d studio viz or similar)
strong imagination and the ability to think and create in three dimensions
visual awareness and an eye for detail
communication and project management skills
responsibilities:1. creating building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using specialist computer-aided design (cad) applications
2. liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of potential projects
3. working around constraining factors such as town planning legislation, environmental impact and project budget
4. working closely with a team of other professionals such as building service engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors and architectural technologists
5. applying for planning permission and advice from governmental new build and legal departments
6. writing and presenting reports, proposals, applications and contracts
7. specifying the requirements for the project
8. adapting plans according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction
9. playing a part in project and team management
10. Travelling regularly to building sites, proposed locations and client meetings
