ResponsibilitiesTheir responsibilities include the following:Plan and implement OHS policies and programsIdentify and assess hazards, risks and control measures for a specific operation or process.Conduct ongoing review of operations and processes to identify potential hazards, risks and control measures that should be implemented to reduce these risks, including all costs involved in implementing such measures.Assess and document hazards, risks and controls in a manner consistent with established procedures and practices.Set up and supervising temporary work areas.Supervise the safe handling, storage & disposal of hazardous materials.Supervise the operation of any potential hazards in the workplace.Improve workplace safety and employee productivity by transitioning from manual safety procedures to digital safety management systems.Ensure that all company employees meet all OSHA requirements.Provide OSHA training if necessary.Ensure that health, safety, and environmental policies are followed.Investigate workplace accidents and injuries and refer them to the proper authorities.Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topicsPrepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basisReview existing policies and proceduresAdhere to all the rules and regulationsWork with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safetyConduct risk assessmentEnforce preventative measuresIdentify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutionsCheck if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulationsPrepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causesOversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safetyCompile safety programs.Practice safe working techniques.Implement and maintain health and safety standards.Establish a cordial and professional relationship with employees.Maintain compliance with all safety regulations.Conduct regular staff meetings to share best practice techniques.Standardize health and safety in order to remain consistent.Identify hazardous waste and disposing of it correctly.Promote safety initiatives.Compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance.Document staff information, minutes of meetings, and reports compiled for management.Regularly inspect equipment.Other rolesIn this position, you will be involves inprojects and other duties as may be assigned to youRequirements:Qualifications include:Education:Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in HSE Management, social science, Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, pure since or any similar engineering field.Specialized knowledge:Thorough knowledge of various kinds of software, organization, time management, Proficient with computers and other standard office technology., Superior organizational and communication skills., Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.Skills:A safety officer must have thefollowing skills; In-depth knowledge ofExcellentknowledge of legislations and proceduresExcellentknowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practicesyears of experience in producing reportsExperiencewith writing policies and procedures for health and safetyFamiliaritywith conducting data analysis and reporting statisticsProficientin MS OfficeWorkingknowledge of safety management information systemAbilities:Multitask, Attention to detail, work under pressureProfessional Certification:Related professional certifications will be an added advantageExperience:Minimum of 4 years' experience (with a strong preference for 3-7 years' plusexperience) as a safety officer in the conventional oil industry or a majorinternational oil operator.Bachelor's degree in safety management, chemical, mineral, or petroleum engineering or other relevant fieldsNecessary medical certificatesCertificate in occupational health and safetyHSE level 1, 2 & 3ISO 9001, 45001 OR 14001 Lead auditorNEBOSH IGCOther characteristics:Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt. Have a detailed understanding of mud engineering.Workingconditions:The status isfull time, at-will employment; your jurisdiction is inRivers state and project sitesLocation:Port Harcourt, Rivers State , NigeriaOffer Deadline:24th April 2024
