QUALIFICATION: A first degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and related disciplines (Computer Engineering, Computer with Economics/ Mathematics, Management Information Systems, and Electrical/Electronics Engineering) is required.
A post graduate degree in any related field is an added advantage.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP: Membership of any of the following professional bodies is an added advantage: NCS, CPN, NIM, PMI or ISACA
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS: Possession of any of the following certifications is required: ITIL Manager; CITP Certified Information Technology Professional (AICPA); CDBA - Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, Microsoft SQL Server Certification; Oracle Database Administrator; Oracle Certified Professional
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience, of which at least 9 years should be at managerial level.
Experience in Database Administration and Support is required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Database planning and administration
Assists with the review of database management plan and ensure implementation accordingly
Supervises the planning and monitoring of systems performance management
Makes all systems databases service available at all times
Provides effective running of all operating systems and storages at all times
Prepares daily systems statistics and report exceptions
Performs accurate tuning of all databases for effective performance
Reports operations status to Senior Database Administrator
Database development and maintenance
Assists with the database design
Updates and amends existing databases
Sets-up and tests new database and data handling systems
Creates complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted
Database infrastructure management
Maintains operating systems and systems databases to maximize performance
Maintains operating systems and shared IT infrastructure to maximize performance
Performs systems and database implementations and upgrade · Manages the tracking of all information on databases
